Upcoming Seminar: "Selling to Virginia: Opportunities for Success"
The Virginia Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) Network will host Selling to Virginia: Opportunities for Success on February 1, 2005 at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center at 600 Butler Farm Road in Hampton, VA. Registration, networking, and refreshments begin at 7:30 am. The program will run from 8:15 am until 12:45 pm. The cost is $20.00.

This half-day seminar is designed to educate small, woman and/or minority business owners about opportunities to sell their goods and services to the Commonwealth and local governments. This event is presented by the Virginia SBDC Network in partnership with the Virginia Department of Business Assistance (DBA).
The seminar will include new information about:
- The Virginia procurement process
- Directions for getting certified as a woman or minority owned firm in Virginia
- Methods for contacting state and local government buyers
- eVA registration and developing eVA catalogues
- Business assistance and counseling services
Businesses will also have the opportunity to meet with purchasing officers from several state and local agencies. Presentations will be delivered in English, but business owners with limited English proficiency (LEP) are encouraged to attend.
The Virginia SBDC network is the most extensive business development and assistance program in the Commonwealth. There are 29 local SBDCs across Virginia providing professional business counseling, training, and information resources to help grow and strengthen Virginia businesses. The network is a partnership between the U.S. Small Business Administration, Mason Enterprise Center of George Mason University, and local sponsors including universities, community colleges, chambers of commerce, municipalities, economic development organizations, and private companies.
