Upcoming Workshops: Selling to Virginia: Opportunities for Success
The Virginia SBDC network and the Virginia Department of Business Assistance are partnering to host the seminar Selling to Virginia: Opportunities for Success. This half-day seminar is designed to educate small, woman and/or minority business owners about opportunities to sell their goods and services to the Commonwealth and local governments.
The seminar will include new information about the Virginia procurement process, directions for getting certified as a woman or minority owned firm in Virginia, methods for contacting state and local government buyers, eVA registration and developing eVA catalogues and business assistance and counseling services. Businesses will also have the opportunity to meet with purchasing officers from several state agencies. Presentations will be delivered in English, but business owners with limited English proficiency (LEP) are encouraged to attend. The event will be held in Harrisonburg, Fairfax, Richmond, Roanoke and Hampton Roads. Visit www.virginiasbdc.org/conferences.asp for dates and registration information.
Additional Training Events
The September December 2004 Training Calendar is posted on the Virginia SBDC website. SBDCs across Virginia offer training courses, seminars and conferences addressing timely and critical business management issues. For more information, visit www.virginiasbdc.org/training2.asp.
The Virginia SBDC network is the most extensive business development program in the Commonwealth. We are an organization of 29 local SBDCs across Virginia providing professional business counseling, training and information resources to help grow and strengthen Virginia businesses. In 2003, over 4600 business owners received one-on-one counseling and 7400 attended a training seminar at their local SBDC. Business owners and managers can count on professional guidance, experienced insight, practical solutions and respect for confidentiality when they work with a local SBDC. The network is a strategic alliance between the U.S. Small Business Administration, Mason Enterprise Center of George Mason University, educational institutions, chambers of commerce and economic development organizations.
