Topic: Managing a Business

CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED Overview: Contractual Restrictions on Competition (Non-Compete Agreements, Non-Solicitation Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements) and Unlawful Competitive Practices (Business Torts) Summary: Effective competition is essential to a successful business. Certain competitive conduct, however, is constrained by law. We will first explore contractual restrictions on competition. Even though these are generally disfavored in Virginia, we will discuss ways in which permissible restrictions can help safeguard your business. We will then review certain statutory and common law restrictions on unlawful competitive practices. We will discuss potential legal claims that can be used to protect your business from unscrupulous competitive conduct. This will be a popular class and will certainly sell out so be sure to register early.
