Entrepreneurs often ask advisers and mentors for a “ROAD MAP” to see what the entire business journey looks like— what are the steps from startup, through venture and growth, to scaling and possible exit or sale - and brief descriptions of the actions for each step. They ask how long it might take to be successful.

The Entrepreneurial Journey is not a straight line—but it should not feel like a random or chaotic journey either!

Please consider joining Mason Small Business Development Center’s Senior Business Adviser, Adjunct GMU Professor and GMU Mentor in Residence, George Siragusa (“Coach S”), who answers these, and many other questions in this NO-COST webinar. George provides a Mentor-Guided Framework from Vision to Value Capture.

Journey-Centric not just Topic-Centric

Grounded in Lean Startup principles, George developed this unique, holistic and topside “entrepreneurial roadmap” view, from insights— insights he compiled from over 250 one-to-one business counseling sessions with CEOs, Owners and Founders over the past 6 years.

The Entrepreneurial “map” is a framework that organizes the journey into four broad themes and 24 actionable work blocks, some of which should ideally happen in series and others in parallel. Those four broad themes are:

  • LEG 1: VISION, IDEATION, AND FOUNDATIONAL CHOICES: Creating value before spending serious money.

  • LEG 2: DISCOVERY, VALIDATION, AND EARLY MARKET SIGNALS: Proving value before scaling effort.

  • LEG 3: FINANCIAL MODELING, SALES, MARKETING, AND VALUE CAPTURE: Turning value into revenue.

  • LEG 4: PERFORMANCE, RISK, SCALING, AND EXIT: Running the business like a system.

Webinar Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of the webinar, participants should have answers to these questions:

  • Can I see a holistic roadmap view summarizing the sequence of steps in a “typical” path forward?

  • How do I create value before spending serious money?

  • How do I prove my value proposition before any scaling effort?

  • What are the critical steps to turn value, I believe I have created, into revenue?

  • How do I self-assess the competencies and skills needed for each step?

  • Which of the 24 steps may unfold in parallel versus which in consecutive order?

  • What are pitfalls, lessons learned gleaned from entrepreneurs’’ experiences?

  • What valuable resources are available to aid me in executing the steps forward?

  • Will I be able to see where I am in the entrepreneurial journey forward?

This is not a rigid formula or one-size fits all checklist. It is a flexible framework that can aid in reducing some of the risks of failure, whether you are a pre-venture entrepreneur, startup founder, business owner, CEO or even mature business operator.

When you register for this NO-COST webinar you will get:

  • the .pdf presentation file entitled “Mapping the Entrepreneurial Road Ahead – The Anatomy of a typical Entrepreneurial Journey Forward”

  • link to the webinar video

  • a visual graphic representation of the 24 action steps included in the “Anatomy of a Typical Business Entrepreneurial Journey”!

  • 8 Lessons Learned drawn directly from “stories” from the “entrepreneurial road

The roadmap is a view that will help you see how your current actions connect and may be either dependent on or interdependent to all the steps in the larger journey.

Again, please consider registering for this unique NO-COST webinar to see and hear more about the typical Entrepreneurial Journey through the lens of this helpful roadmap to guide your path forward.
