Join us at Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton for a conversation with specialists in the field of non-profit and for profit arts organizations, artists and retailers. Learn how arts organizations and retailers work so you can work better with them. Please arrive on time. If you arrive 15 minutes late you will not be able to attend the workshops. ** This workshop is made possible by the generous contribution of time and expertise by a CBP volunteer. If you are unable to attend the class, please notify us promptly. ****LOCATION This event is held at Location: Workhouse Arts Center, 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton, VA 22079**** OUR PANELISTS: -Lynn Goldstein, Artist Lynn’s art has brought her national/international recognition. She has exhibited widely, winning awards, in nationally juried exhibitions and galleries, and her work is enjoyed in private and public collections throughout the United States and Europe. One of her paintings was selected for the permanent collection in the Jean-Haffen Museum, Dinan, France, upon her completion of an artist residency in 2011. Additionally, Lynn was one of fifteen American artists selected to participate in the Caravan multi-cultural and international art exhibition which took place at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC in the fall of 2014. Most recently, her work was selected for exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. Her work is represented in four commercial galleries and may be seen in her studio at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia. You may also see Lynn’s work online at: www.lynngoldstein.com -Marc Willson, SBDC General Retail Guru Marc has visited over 500 towns in Virginia giving seminars and counseling small retailers and restaurants on staying relevant in a changed economy. He has counseled over 2000 clients in the food and retail industry. Marc is the Virginia SBDC retail guru and works as an independent contractor for George Mason University. -Barry Broadway President & CEO, Broadway Gallery My experience revolves around running an art and picture framing business in the Washington DC metropolitan area for the last 25 years. I have an extensive background in the art and design industry along with the experience of running a successful retail/wholesale multi location business. I have a vast network of clients in the DC area and have been associated with several non profit charitable institutions. As a graduate of GMU I have a ongoing relationship with the art school on their Advisory Council and a great interest in the success of the students and alumni. The future and ongoing success of my company will be based on the continued relationship with my clients and the growth through the network that I continue to expand. -Ava Spece, President & CEO Workhouse Arts Center Ava Spece is a passionate executive with 20+ years’ experience leading both nonprofit and for-profit businesses. Prior to coming to the Workhouse Ava served as President of the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, Executive Director of DC Youth Orchestra, and is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond. Frank Pappas, Director Marketing Workhouse Arts Center Frank C. Pappas serves as Director of Marketing for the Workhouse Arts Center. He has worked with leading corporations and nonprofits throughout the United States and around the world to enhance brands, products, relationships, and experiences through audience-focused research, design, and technology. A fine art screenprinter and photographer who studied at the Corcoran College of Art + Design, Frank holds a Master's Degree in Communication, Culture, and Technology from Georgetown University.
