In response to the COVID-19 crisis, we are offering a free webinar series to help your business manage in these uncertain and rapidly changing times.Day 1: Monday | March 30 | 12-1 pmBarbara Gustavson, President and owner of Discover Next Step, will teach “Managing in Chaos: 5 Steps to Solution-Based Thinking” This seminar will provide you a new perspective on problem-solving and a template to start addressing your challenges now. Day 2: Tuesday | March 31 | 12-1 pm Randy Sparks, member of the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group at Kaufman & Canoles, will teach “HR Guidance for Business Owners”This seminar will provide resources for employees to help you navigate this crisis: 1) Do I have to pay employees who aren't working because we are shut down? 2) When do I have to pay Emergency Sick Leave? 3) If I close temporarily, are my employees considered to be laid off and can they apply for unemployment? 4) Will this impact my unemployment insurance premiums? Day 3: Wednesday | April 1 | 12-1 pm Joe Distefano, President of Rappahannock Economic Development Corporation, will cover “Managing Existing Debt and Finding New Sources of Capital”This seminar will educate small businesses on how to handle modifications and deferrals, what the process looks like and the best approaches to date, and what lenders are doing to help. Joe will also address the ever revolving funding resources. Day 4: Monday | April 6 | 12-1 pm Dan Craddock, Creative Director of MetroNova Creative, will teach “Improving Online Presence”This seminar will cover how a business can improve digital sales and drive customers to your website. Day 5: Wednesday | April 8 | 12-1 pmJohn Atkins, President of Lewis Insurance Associates, will teach "Managing Business Risk"This seminar will discuss loss of income and understanding business interruption insurance. ***Attendees are encouraged to send questions to the SBDC at least one day before the seminar, so that Mr. Atkins can be prepared to address them***

Bios for speakers below: Day 1 speaker: Barbara Gustavson is an executive coach, author, and owner of Discover Next Step. She provides coaching to those in a season of change and looking for more fulfillment. She assesses where they are, guides them to maximize their unique strengths and helps them create a customized plan to step into their true calling.Day 2 speaker: Randy Sparks, Jr. is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group at Kaufman & Canoles. He concentrates his practice in employment litigation, representing employers in employment discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of employment contract, non-compete, and wage and hour claims before various state and federal courts and administrative agencies. Randy also advises and trains clients on lawful employment practices and other workplace issues.Day 3 speaker: Joe DiStefano first served on the REDCO Board of Directors for six years before joining the company as President in 2015. Prior to joining REDCO, Joe served as Senior Vice President & Market Executive for a regional commercial bank, primarily engaged in C&I lending, to include SBA-related financing to local counties. Joe also served 10 years in the U.S. Army, on both active duty and in the reserve. In his last military role, he served as an infantry team leader during Operation Enduring Freedom and was deployed to Afghanistan for 14 months.Day 4 speaker: Dan Craddock has been working in the design and branding industry for nearly 20 years. With time spent in the print and sign production field as well as identity design and web development, he has a wealth of knowledge and practical experience. He is now the founder and creative director of a local branding shop here in Fredericksburg called Metro Nova Creative, where he works with his team to inspire local businesses to love their brands and experience growth and success.Day 5 speaker: John Atkins became President of Lewis Insurance Associate in 2004.
