Business Structures for Federal Tax Purposes November 5, 2026, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Choosing the right business structure is an important decision that can affect how a business is taxed, the forms it must file and how owners report business income. This workshop will provide an overview of the most common business structures, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, S Corporations and limited liability companies (LLCs). By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to: Explain the key federal tax characteristics and treatment associated with each business structure Identify the primary federal tax filing requirements and forms associated with each business structure. Understand the advantages and disadvantages of each business structure

Speaker(s): Alfred Page: Currently I’m responsible for doing outreach messaging and presentation to industry, association, and our tax pro partners regarding resources, guidance, authoritative information available at IRS. During my first 13 of my 19 years with IRS l served as a Tax Law Specialist in Exempt Org (EO). I’m classified as a SME in Tax Exempt Org, specifically 501(c)(7) and Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT). I also served as a legacy core member of the UBIT Knowledge Management (K-Net) team. l developed and co-presented many training modules for the K-Net. l also assisted agents with field issues via the K-Net’s Ask A Question (AAQ) feature and presentations regarding EO UBIT and other technical issues. As a member of the then former Rulings & Agreement I prepared many recommendations for a variety of tax-exempt applications and was the primary initiator on several Private Letter Rulings (PLR', Technical Assistance Memorandum (TAM’s) and Technical Assistance (TA’s) requests.
