Client Testimonial

A year and a half ago Al Adelgren decided to pursue his dream to have his own flooring store, which came to be named Williamsburg Floors, LLC. Mr. Adelgren had six years’ experience as manager of a local flooring retail store, and 17 years’ experience as wholesale territory manager for flooring distributors. What he needed was help on the nitty-gritty of loan applications and dealing with the various government entities. This is what he had to say about his SBDC experience: "I feel that you were a tremendous amount in the preparation of my business plan and its final draft to present to SBA. As you know I have a strong flooring sales background and in business but I gained a more enlightened overall view with your help and guidance. You made me more aware of the government requirements, rules and regulations, license procedures and tax information that has been very valuable. SBDC was especially very helpful and informative in the final draft of my business plan and getting me on the right track to make my business a success. Thank you again for all of your assistance."

Williamsburg Floors was an immediate success. Mr. Adelgren had loyal customers from his previous position, and was serving an expanding market. He borrowed $30,000 and injected $20,000 of his own money. Within slightly over a year he was able to repay the loan in full. He is now adding his son-in-law as an employee, and will be able to cut back on the grueling work schedule he had maintained. He was also able to buy a new delivery van.
