Land Surveyor Company Expansion

The client and his daughter have owned and operated a land survey company since 1986. They first approached the SBDC for assistance in 1999 when they began experiencing cash flow difficulties. The cash flow problems were symptoms of poor credit and collections. Numerous recommendations including a model were developed. The client subsequently implemented the model and continues to use.

Since that time, the SBDC has continued to advise the company with numerous areas of operation. The company has expanded from a sole proprietorship to a corporation. In March, the clients purchased another survey business and expanded their geographical territory and employee base. Five additional positions were created, seven were retained and capital investments totaling $218,000 were made. As part of the expansion, the client moved from a small leased space to a spacious converted residence that had previously been converted into several offices. This allows the clients and their staff to function in a more efficient and professional setting. The clients recently stated "that knowing that the SBDC is there to assist them with whatever challenge or constraint might be encountered has allowed them to feel more confident and proactive in operating and growing the business".
